The pioneering spirit of Cees Braakman and the UMS-Pastoe company elegantly capture many of the ideals and aesthetics that originally brought us together as collectors and enthusiasts of classic modern design.  His wide range of modular systems made to be customized for the user, as well as the individual pieces, are strong and ingenious solutions to the spatial constraints experienced throughout Europe in the immediate post was era.  The launch of this exhibit and catalogues also represent the realization of a long-term dream to expand R into a dedicated space for design education and preservation.
